Trusts are inimitable, and no one can terminate and change them without the approval of the beneficiary or owner. Trust is the most recommended form of NGO registration. It is easy to start trust NGOs for public welfare, such as home shelters, orphanages, nursing homes, and many more. Union government of India doesn’t govern the Trust, but different state regulates Trust as per their norms.

Trusts are mainly of 2 types.

Public Trust must have a charitable and public welfare purpose. On the opposing, private Trust is dedicated to one family or group of people. Sometimes, people also build family trusts which are not compelled to conduct social welfare. They can do it voluntarily; there is no obligation on private Trust to do charity. However, if they do it’s their consent.

Public Trusts follow general rules of benefitting society, and local bodies govern it. The Indian Trust Act 1882 regulates and decides the provisions and functioning of the public Trust. The example of public trusts is Temple, religious institution and many more.
